                                        SEENI VADA 

                                     ( FRIED SEMOLINA CAKE )

                               This is a traditional snack recipe in Islamic Tamil community which is prepared with semolina as the main ingredient. Mostly, people will makes this before Festival days. This snack tastes almost like a cake which is crispier on the outside, soft and sweet inside. This fried snack can be stored upto 10-15 days in the room Temperature.

INGREDIENTS

  • Semolina - 1/4 kg
  • Powdered sugar - 125 g
  • Egg - 2 nos 
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Baking soda - a pinch
  • Food color - a pinch
  • Oil - for frying

METHOD OF PREPARATION  

STEP 1 : Into a bowl, add semolina, powdered sugar and all the dry ingredients like baking soda,                    food color, salt, cardamom powder and mix.

STEP 2 : Heat the ghee and add into the dry mixture.

STEP 3 : Beat the egg well, strain and add into the flour.

STEP 4 : Don't add water, just mix and let it sit for 15-18 hrs in the room temperature.

STEP 5 : After 15- 18 hrs, divide into 8 parts, make balls.

STEP 6 : Place a ball on a greased paper, flatten slightly and make hole in the center.

STEP 7 : Deep fry in a low flame and allow it to cool.

Crispy and delicious snack is ready, enjoy!!!
